On the road to a better control of the diabetes epidemic in Canada

On June 21, 2021, the Senate adopted unanimously Bill C-237 for a National Framework on Diabetes. My expertise with diabetic foot in senior health care had motivated me to sponsor Liberal MP Sonia Sidhu’s, pictured, bill. Since the beginning of the pandemic, studies have shown that diabetes is one of the major comorbidities associated with the development of severe COVID-19-related adverse outcomes and mortality.
