Have you noticed how the results of The Hill Times’ (sensational) All Politics Poll published on Jan. 7, were uncannily similar to what happened last week? Maybe we’re more influential than we thought. Read it yourself again and then take a look at Prime Minister Jean Chretien’s cabinet shuffle. MPs who were voted stars in our survey of 90 MPs were boosted while MPs picked as losers were dumped. Hot issues were highlighted and hot political commodities and newsmakers were elevated with haunting accuracy. We won’t take complete credit for influencing the Prime Minister and his advisers, but it’s clear Prime Minister Jean Chretien has been listening to some members of his caucus. It’s also clear our poll was a pretty good snapshot of political thought on Parliament Hill.
