Deputy editor Bea Vongdouangchanh joined The Hill Times newsroom as a reporter in January 2005. She writes the popular weekly “Heard on the Hill” column and covers the legislative process and lobbying world.
Prior to The Hill Times, she worked as a reporter and copy editor at The Sherbrooke Record after graduating from the University of King’s College’s one-year bachelor of journalism program.
The Cambridge, Ont., native also holds a bachelor of arts in political science with a concentration in international relations from Carleton University and is currently working on her master’s of journalism.
In the summer of 2008, she was in Rwanda as part of the media-capacity building organization, the Rwanda Initiative, where she worked as a sub-editor in the business department of The New Times, the country’s English-language daily based in Kigali.
